Dale Rollings Recognized as 2009 Library Legend

On Friday, November 6, 2009, the community gathered at the Kathryn Linnemann Library to honor Dale Rollings as the 2nd Annual Library Legend Award Winner presented by the Library Legacy Society.  Dale and the Rollings & Shaw Law Firm has served the St. Charles City-County Library District for over 35 years. Dale helped form the district through the merger of the Kathryn Linnemann Library and the County Library District during a very unstable time.  For his leadership, support and advocacy that helped transform the St. Charles City-County Library into the award winning district it is today, we honor and thank Mr. Dale Rollings.

2008 Library Legend

The first-ever Library Legend recognized by the St Charles City-County Library Foundation was Virginia Terry, a professional librarian and member of the original Friends of the St. Charles County Library.  Viriginia has long been an advocate for libraries and emphasized defense of First Amendment rights at the time of great excess on the part of the County Library Board.  When the current district was formed in 1973, she became a founding member of the St. Charles City-County Library District Board of Trustees and served three terms in the years 1973 to 1979 and from 1994 to 1995.
