What is Books To You?

Books To You is sponsored by the Library Foundation and is committed to ensure that every citizen in St. Charles County is able to enjoy a true library experience, even if they are unable to come to us.  Books To You matches our senior community to one-on-one volunteer delivery of books and delivers books to senior residential communities throughout the county.

Why is it important?
There are several seniors and other individuals that are unable to come to the library due to disability or permanent injury.  These people begin to feel isolated and to feel as if they are not contributing to society.  Through reading and regular interaction with our volunteers we are improving their quality of life and promoting lifelong learning.

What does Books To You provide?
The Foundation currently delivers around 20,000 items to over 40 community residential facilities per year through its delivery service.  Additionally, the foundation has matched many individuals that receive personal delivery service by volunteers.  In 2013 the foundation is committed to doubling the impact in both areas to 40,000 items and 60 homebound individuals.

How do you apply for Books To You services?
The Books to You library outreach service is available for individuals who are homebound and cannot travel to a library branch to enjoy library resources. If you have a permanent or temporary disability that prevents you from visiting our libraries, you may request assistance through Books To You. Download the Books To You application and submit to the Foundation for review.  

Want to support Books To You?

There are several ways to support and serve Books 2 You.  The Foundation is always looking for:

• Volunteers to support the overall program
• Individuals to lead book discussions at our partner locations
• Individuals committed to the senior community
• Individuals interested to deliver items to homebound seniors/people
• Partners interested in working with the Foundation for book discussions
